Built in the 1870s as the Grade II-listed Waterloo Hotel, this historic pub makes a welcome change from the usual uniform chain hotels. At one point in The Waterloo’s colourful history, it had one of the longest bars in Europe.

Following a luxury refurbishment in 2007, yet still retaining all of its original features, the hotel now boasts first-class comfort with 21 wifi enabled luxury en-suite bedrooms.

Serving the very best modern and traditional cuisine, The Waterloo has won numerous V Awards over the years, including Restaurant of the Year and Hotel of the Year.

“We like to keep it simple at The Waterloo, the food is not fussy as we focus on taste instead of being fancy, using the best and freshest locally sourced ingredients,” said owner Bob Evans.

The Waterloo’s specials board changes daily with fresh fish dishes playing a key role in the restaurant’s popularity and success. There is an early bird menu which consists of two courses and is available Monday to Friday from 5.30pm to 7pm.

The new summer a la carte menus are full of delicious dishes, ranging from sumptuous starters, delicious mains, a variety of options from the grill, salads and a glorious selection of homemade desserts to indulge in.

Every Sunday you can sample The Waterloo’s Sunday roast. With a wide choice of roasts to choose from served with fresh seasonal vegetables and homemade gravy, alongside vegetarian and fish choice dishes. Booking is advised for its very popular Sunday lunch. Bob and his team are also taking bookings for Father’s Day, which this year falls on June 19.
