Nikki Hillman loves animals, and is no stranger when it comes to looking after them. She grew up being surrounded by a wide variety of pets, owning horses, cats, birds, turtles, fish, hamsters and guinea pigs, as well as many dogs.

“I’ve always been confident around animals,” said Nikki.
“They look for strong leadership, and this is what I’m able to give them – especially when walking someone else’s dog.

“I’ve always had a huge interest in animals, going back as far as I can remember – dogs become part of the family and, as any dog owner knows, it is vital that they get their daily exercise.

“I’ve always wanted to be my own boss and to do something that I love, that’s why I decided to start my own business, Four Paws Two Feet.

“A good friend of mine, Sarah, owner of Adorable Friends, has given me the best advice to help me get started. Not only that, I have a family member who is also a qualified dog trainer and fosterer on hand for extra support.

“I started my business to provide a service for those who don’t get the chance to walk their dogs – even though they would love to. Life can sometimes get in the way, and a dog’s daily exercise may be pushed to one side, whether it’s due to long working hours, sudden or affected illnesses, or such as senior citizens, who can’t get out as much as they used to.

“No-one likes going out in the rain, but I will to get the job done – I’ll walk dogs no matter the weather!

“I offer a service seven days a week, starting from 8am in the morning up until 6pm in the evening, and I am also willing to travel outside of the Newport area.

“I sometimes take dogs on day trips to new locations, so that they can get a chance to explore – I frequently walk dogs around the Brecon Beacons, as well as many other locations throughout the beautiful SouthWales countryside.

“I’ve undertaken basic training and obedience courses with my own dogs, and I’m currently taking a course and will be awarded a Complete Canine Care Diploma, awarded by the BCCS. I’m fully insured with Pet Plan and fully CRB/DRB checked.

“I want customers to know that I’ll treat their pets like my pets, and give them all the love and attention that they need.

“There are usually no more than two dogs per walk, as I can give more attention to the dogs – I can take more, but this will obviously be agreed with the dog’s owner.

“Every dog is different, and each has their own personality and traits – I will adhere to any dogs undergoing training, including commands preferred by the owner.

“I can also help tackle and overcome problems such as dominance, aggression, resource guarding, and anxiety around strange dogs.

“I’m very competitively priced and charge by the hour, I also don’t charge for any travel expenses within the Newport area. I’m fully flexible to suit the customer’s needs, and have many references and happy customer testimonials if they request them.

“I also take part in many fundraising and charity events, and will be at the open day at the Newport RSPCA Centre in Ringland on June 12.

“Not only do I offer a complete dog walking service, I can also puppy sit, and also look after, feed and make regular checks on small animals that are
left at home all day – give me a call for more details, I look forward to hearing from you!”
