Maindee Festival celebrates a big birthday this year….it’s our 21st festival and so we’ve chosen the theme Maindee Grows Up.
Look out for trees, plants and wildlife in our colourful parade as well as flags and a giant globe representing all the many diverse cultures living in Maindee.
This year’s festival takes place on Saturday July 1st. As always the parade leaves Newport Rugby Ground at midday arriving at the site at 1pm where there’ll be an afternoon of music, dance, poetry, storytelling, arts activities, lovely food and fun!
There are many ways you can join in the fun at Maindee Festival:
Free parade workshops: Saturday June 24th Maindee Library 10am to 1pm. Help make parade costumes for the fabulous carnival parade. All welcome.
Join the parade:
From 11am Saturday July 1st Newport Rugby Ground, Rodney Parade. Come along and wear a costume, wave a flag or dance along as the parade makes it way to the Maindee Primary School site.
Volunteer and join the Maindee Site Crew!
We have loads to do on the day, and the week before. If you can give a few hours of your time to help us either before or on the day we would love to hear from you. . Please contact festival@maindee.org or phone 07837 033090 for more details.
