Get on board and enjoy a free festival for the Volvo Ocean Race Cardiff Stopover
Since 1973, the Volvo Ocean Race has provided the ultimate test of a team and a human adventure. The 2017-2018 edition will take the teams 45,000 nautical miles around the world, across four oceans, touching six continents and 12 landmark host cities.
Following the fleet’s departure from Newport (Rhode Island, USA – that is!), they are due to arrive in Cardiff on May 28.
To celebrate, Cardiff Bay will host to a free festival, from May 27 to June 10, and with the first week of the event being half-term, there’s fun for the entire family. This is the only UK stopover, so show your support and give the teams a big Welsh welcome. Visitors can explore the Volvo
Ocean Race-themed attractions, including a film-showing at The Globe sustainability centre and replica Volvo-65 – and even get out on the water with free water sports sessions.
Otherwise, visit the many activity stands and locally-sourced food stalls, or simply kick back, relax and enjoy the live music.
The Cardiff Stopover festival has so much to offer, with a variety of extra events such as the only chance to see the NoFit State Circus performance, Lexicon, inWales. Also, there is the opportunity to put your crew to the ultimate test and try something new by booking a team-building session.
It’s guaranteed to appeal to a variety of visitors. Put it in your diary now, it’s too good to miss. For more information visit the website.
