June's education establishment of the month is Building Blocks Too

Building Blocks Too is a wonderful family-run day-care centre for children aged from new born to eight years and is Voice’s Education Establishment of the Month.

The nursery was opened nine years ago, due to the high demand of childcare from the original Building Blocks nursery, which this year celebrates its 23rd year anniversary.

Having recently undergone a major refurbishment to its toddler and preschool areas, the new open plan design has allowed the children to have more playing and learning space.

New fingertip recognition security measures have also been introduced to both nurseries too, making it much easier for parents to access the building. One of the major draws for parents putting their child in care is consistency.

Building Blocks Too employs longserving, experienced staff who are led by manageress Katie Carr. Half its carers are qualified to NNEB or NVQ Level 5 in Early Years Childcare and Education, and all staff have enhanced DBS and qualifications in first aid.

As the nursery is constantly evolving with the times, owners Joanne Boycott and Lesley Price are working towards achieving an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) status with the Welsh Government for both of their nurseries, and hopefully this will be completed by 2019.

The nursery also achieved a gold status for a small workplace, awarded by Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Recent CSSI Wand ESTYN inspection reports for both Building Blocks Nurseries were outstanding, with Building Blocks Too being Highly Commended two years running by theWales Pre-School Providers Association.

The main aim of Building Blocks is to provide a happy, relaxed and homely environment to help your child feel secure and safe.

Parents will be pleased to know that Building Blocks Too is part of the Flying Start programme, offering free childcare for a certain amount of time per week. Call for more details.

Building Blocks offer full and part-time placements with the options of caring for a full week, full day, morning session and afternoon session. All meals and snacks are included, and they can provide a specialist menu for certain dietary requirements.
