The Lysaght Institute is a venue unlike any other – steeped in history with a classic 1920’s Art Deco interior, it makes for a great venue to style upon for your special day.
There are many lovely features within the grounds, including large balcony areas and beautiful landscaped gardens – perfect for wedding photography.
You may hold your civil ceremony within two rooms of this unique venue, the Lysaght Ballroom and Lysaght Suite, with a tastefully decorated entrance foyer, corridors and original staircase leading to the ballroom.
Situated on the first floor of the building, the Lysaght Ball Room is the perfect venue for larger celebrations, catering up to 180 guests for a wedding breakfast and evening party. The ballroom is draped in natural light and features an original art-deco ceiling with doors leading onto a large balcony for guests to enjoy a drink watching the sun set over the Usk.
Interior lighting can be changed to match your colour scheme to illuminate the 1920’s art deco ceiling, as well as the outdoor lighting that illuminates the building can be changed to match your colour scheme too.
The recently refurbished bar now offers the latest ranges of drinks, as well as draught beers and lagers on tap, plus an array of gins and flavoured vodkas to name but a few.
Located on the ground floor, the Lysaght Suite offers a more intimate space for smaller celebrations. The Lysaght Suite caters for up to 60 guests for a wedding ceremony and includes a unique feature wall charting the history of Newport and has access to landscape gardens for drinks and wedding photography.
The dedicated wedding team, who has more than 30 years’ combined experience in 5-Star wedding decoration and service, will plan your special day with you, to not only meet your individual requirements, but also to reflect your personality and unique style.
From your ceremony, to your wedding breakfast banquette, and on to your evening celebration buffet, there’s a range of tempting packages to cater for all budgets.
There are new menus with all dietary requirements catered for, and due to high-demand, the team at the Lysaght’s are now working with Asian catering teams to offer traditional foods from all backgrounds including Hindu, Sikh, Halal, Pakistani and Halal Bangladeshi.

As well as being a great venue for weddings, The Lysaght Institute is also the perfect venue to hold awards dinners, proms, sports presentations, and Family celebrations.
There’s a new community room for members of the public to come and utilise too, with free helpful events and tips offered throughout the year, such as CV writing, how to apply for online banking for the elderly, general computer use, reading clubs, and art and craft demonstrations.
