The NIKWAX Caerphilly challenge series is back on Saturday, May the 2nd, 2020 – with the ‘Wild Boar’.

Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Countryside and Landscape Service and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, in conjunction with our main sponsor Nikwax and our partners, Caerphilly Adventure Group, Caerphilly Ramblers, Islwyn Ramblers, and Idris Davies 3-18, are once again throwing down a SERIOUS challenge for walkers and runners of all abilities.

The start and finish of this years’ challenge is Idris Davies 3-18 School (Rhymney). Following on from the successful ‘Twmbarlwm Trek’ in 2018 and ‘The Forge’ in 2019, the challenge continues in the stunning surrounds of the Upper Rhymney Valley with its challenging terrain and commanding views.

• 1-5 mile route (led walk)* Pre entry and entry on the day.

• 10 mile route (led walk).

• 15 mile route (self-led challenge and led walk).

• 22 mile route (self-led challenge and led walk).

The 10, 15 and 22 mile challenges costs £10 to enter. For under 18’s a £2 reduction is applied to their tickets with the minimum age of 12 for any challenge over 5 miles.

Closing date: Wednesday the 23rd Of April

The 1-5 mile route which costs just £2 can be entered in advance or on the day.

CAUTION: Taking part in this challenge will benefit your health, make you feel adventurous, take you through spectacular valleys, woodlands, commons, farmland, hilltops and riverside. And you may even be treated to some fantastic views (weather permitting) across the county borough towards the Brecon Beacons, over Cardiff Bay, the Bristol Channel, Somerset and North Devon!
