The Caerphilly Challenge Series is back on May 7, 2016 – and this year it’s better than ever

Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Countryside and Landscape Service, in conjunction with Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, Lets Walk Cymru, Caerphilly Adventure Group, Caerphilly Ramblers, Islwyn Ramblers, Bedwas High school and other partners, are once again throwing down a serious challenge for walkers and runners of all abilities.

For 2016 the Caerphilly Challenge Series starts and finishes from Bedwas High School and will have routes suitable for all fitness levels and abilities. This year The Forge has the following challenges:
• 1 to 5 mile led walk
• 11 miles ramblers-led walk
• 17 miles self-led challenge
(walk or run)
• 17 miles led walk (limited
numbers)
• 22 miles challenge (walk or
run)
• 22 miles led walk (limited
numbers)

Tickets for this event are £10 and are available to purchase until the closing date on Sunday April 24. For under 18s a £2 reduction is applied to tickets, with the minimum age of 12 for any challenge of more than five miles. Unlike the longer walks, there is no deadline for the one to five-mile route which costs just £2 and can be paid on the day. There is no minimum age and all proceeds go to the mayors’ charity.

CAUTION: Taking part in this challenge will benefit your health, make you feel adventurous, take you through spectacular valleys’, woodland, farmland, hill tops and riverside.
And you may even be treated to some fantastic views (weather permitting) across the county borough towards the Brecon Beacons, over Cardiff Bay, the Bristol Channel, Somerset and North Devon.
