On Sunday, March 5, between 11am and 1pm bring your delicious home-baked cakes to Beechwood House in Beechwood Park, Newport. An expert panel of judges will be on-hand to taste your bakes and there are superb prizes to be won. Entry is free but places are limited, so if you would like to enter a cake then please register by calling Action for Children on 01633 270422 or by sending an email to frances.hollister@actionforchildren.org.uk

If baking cakes is not your thing but eating them is, then come along too. There will be mouth-watering cakes, teas and coffees for sale and if you have children then there will be activities to keep them busy too.

Matt Lewis from Action for Children Fostering Wales, said: “This will be the third year that the competition has run. The standard of cake making is really high and I’m looking forward to seeing and tasting this year’s creations.  It’s a great event and all proceeds raised from our cake and cuppa sales will go to Action for Children Fostering Wales to help pay for a fun day out for our foster children”.

“For 148 years, Action for Children has never been afraid to push for the best for children. We work in local communities across the UK to make children’s lives better: now, tomorrow and every day. We take action at the earliest opportunity to help children as they grow up. We care about each child and every family. Our ambition at Action for Children is to do what’s right for children, to do what’s needed and to do what works. Children are at the core of everything we do. By supporting the Great Welsh Cake Off, you are helping to support some of the most vulnerable children in our area so please come along.”
