A fun-filled family day out of exploring and adventure is right on your doorstep at Cwmcarn Forest Centre.

There are numerous trails for you to discover by cycling or on foot with many hidden treasures along the way in this beautiful valley forest – perfect for families with dogs.

There’s plenty of spots to have a family picnic where you can enjoy breathtaking views, as well as state of the art play areas and pump track to keep the children entertained.

For children who love the outdoors there’s a special activity pack, the Cwmcarn Explorer Challenge, which tasks individuals to find 21 points of interest along the trails and mark them down on their sheet.

Once completed the children are rewarded with a special certificate and can have their photo taken with Bryn the Badger as a memento at the Visitor Centre.

The Visitor Centre is a communal hub for all things going on in Cwmcarn Forest and features an information station where you will find walking guides, maps and details of the surrounding area.

Not many people are aware that the Visitor Centre also offers an amazing selection of beautiful gifts for any occasion, most of which you can find in big brand named High Street department stores – the only difference is that the Visitor Centre offers the great products at a fraction
of the price, so you’re guaranteed to find an absolute bargain.

There’s lots to choose from for anniversaries, weddings, christenings and birthdays, as well as seasonal items, plus there’s a wide range of classic and traditional wooden children’s toys too.

Once you’ve found the perfect gift for a loved one, why not take a break by sampling one of the delicious homemade meals or snacks that are available at Ravens café? Using local produce and supporting local suppliers whenever possible, food is served from 9.30am to 4pm, Saturday to Thursday, and 9.30am to 3.30pm on Friday.

Mountain bikers will be pleased to learn that the popular Twrch Trail has reopened in time for the summer.  The trail is marketed to those experienced riders who are looking for a steep climb and a rollercoaster style descent on a single track.

In addition to the fantastic bike tracks, the vast area also boasts state-of-the-art glamping pods at its four-star rated campsite. The area can accommodate up to 20 tents or caravans in addition to the 10 glamping pods – a great setting for weekend away during the summer holidays, view the website for more details.

So why not pay Cwmcarn Forest a visit this August for the perfect family day out that has it all?

The Visitor Centre is open daily from 9am until 5pm Saturday to Thursday, and until 4.30pm on Friday.
