Parc Central is the third venue for young entrepreneurs Anthony Cook and Matt Ellis, which falls under their Parc Pantry umbrella.

This pop-up is an elevated concept of their previous establishments and will focus more on main meals and bars snacks, as well as offering a wide selection of alcoholic drinks, such as prosecco on tap.

Voice caught up with the hard working duo as they were putting the finishing touches in preparation of opening night.

“With each of our premises, we wanted to make them different,” said Matt.

“Whereas Parc Pantry focus more on coffee and the deli side of food, and the Tea Rooms specialising in tea and cake, Parc Central will be more about offering food from a proper kitchen and also cocktails, coffee liquers, hard shakes (alcoholic milkshakes) and Welsh beers.

“Anthony and I have always wanted to open a place in Newport City Centre so this, you could say, is us getting on board with the #BackingNewport campaign.

“It’s exciting to have a venue that focuses on the night-time economy, which is relatively new to us – we’ve worked with Junction 26 putting on events and gigs, and are looking to bring live music here once a month too.

“We’ll also be introducing themed food evenings and film nights, but nothing is set in stone – we’re always evolving and making changes, this way we’re able to offer our customers something new.

“With our food it’s going to be kind of a tapas style but being influenced by street food, where diners are able to pick from a wide variety of things and share with their friends – the idea of Parc Central is to be a social place where groups of friends can visit for pre-drinks and food before they go on a night out.

“Food will be available to take away too, so if you’re feeling peckish on your way home, you can grab a tasty bite to eat before you get in a taxi!

“Another exciting aspect that we’re bringing to Parc Central is the fact that we have an exceptional pastry chef in the form of Graham Laurence, who has worked under Stephen Terry at the Hardwick in Abergavenny.

“Throughout December we’ll be offering a festive menu too, with separate menus available for lunch and evening dinner. Lunch you’ll be able to walk in and have, but evening dinner you’ll have to book – see the full menus online.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming people to our new venue and hope that they like it. There’s been quite a buzz on social media and, as always, we’ve had great support from our wonderful followers who frequent our
establishments.

“On behalf of the Parc Pantry team, Ant and I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year – and we’ll see you when you pop in for a festive drink and bite to eat.”
