The coffee at Horton’s is something to shout about, as it is meticulously made to perfection, with every minor detail taken care of by passionate baristas – just take a look at the great reviews from happy customers on its Facebook page.

Owner Gavin Horton has struck a chord in the hearts of the people of Newport, as his new venue is starting to be a communal hub for the local people of Millennium Plaza, not to mention the many dog walkers and runners of the river front who pop in for a great tasting cup of java.

This coffee house’s homemade cakes (made fresh every day by Gavin’s mum) are proving to be quite popular too, with secret recipe Welsh Cakes being a best seller.

Other options on its evolving menu include, hand-crafted stone baked pizza, an exquisite choice of freshly prepared paninis, sandwiches and rolls, as well as a tempting selection of crepes, American style pancakes, waffles, cakes and pastries.

For Valentine’s Day there will be a special pizza night for couples, from 7.30pm until 10pm. There’s a limit of 16 tables available, with a menu consisting of any two pizzas of your choice, a bottle of wine, and a choice of profiteroles or cake for dessert – all for just £30.

Also for February at a date yet to be confirmed, Gavin is planning to host a ‘latte art throw-down’ where the best eight baristas from Cardiff will be pitted against the best baristas from Bristol, meeting at neutral ground in Newport for the ultimate show-down.

If you’ve never seen coffee latte art in the flesh before, now’s your chance to do so, simply like the Horton’s Coffee House Facebook for a date and time for this extra special event – the first of its kind in Newport.

So if you’re looking to taste possibly the best coffee in Newport, make your way to Horton’s Coffee House, which can be found at Millennium Walk, Newport NP19 0NX.
