Matt Dawkins of the Castle Inn is August's chef of the month

Matt recently took over the business from its previous owner, but has worked here for many years.

Situated in the town square of the beautiful village of Usk, The Castle Inn is a well-loved venue that is frequented by regulars and visitors from across the globe. As the seasons change, so do the menus, with head chef Matt creating wonderful dishes for you to sample.

Due to Matt’s hard work and dedication, The Castle Inn has built up an excellent reputation for serving some of the best food in the area. The menus available have the quality and calibre of a Michelin star restaurant without the price tag.

All meals are made fresh from scratch and cooked to perfection – also don’t hesitate to ask a member of staff if you have any dietary requirements. Food is served seven days a week from noon until 10pm, where you can also get coffee and homemade cake at any time of the day.

For lunch, there’s a selection of pub grub classics and homemade sandwiches from £6. Senior citizens can take advantage of a fantastic
lunchtime meal deal, where they can get two courses for £8 from noon until 3pm, Monday to Friday, and includes tea or coffee.

During August, Matt offers a selection of meals in a basket, which you can enjoy in the recently refurbished beer garden.

In the evening, diners can peruse the a la carte menu and choose from a wide variety of gastro-inspired dishes, made from the finest locally sourced ingredients that Monmouthshire has to offer. This enticing menu changes monthly to keep it fresh and exciting for guest who frequent this
fine establishment.

A recent addition to the menu is afternoon tea, priced at £10 per person and is available each day from 3pm until 5pm – no booking required.
