This old coaching inn has been tastefully redecorated, with the new landlords offering a fantastic gastro-style menu of traditional British classics with a fabulous selection of fine wines, real ales and spirits from the bar.

The menu has a strong focus on 28-day maturedsteaks,Welsh lamb and fresh produce from local suppliers.

Voice got to photo a selection of its dishes, which were expertly made by head chef Matthew Malnati-Mills, and at just 22 he’s set to have a fantastic career as a chef.

Owner Dayne Watkins said, “Mathew is an exceptional young chef, and we’re very glad to have him on board. He’s already received amazing reviews for his food, and we’re looking forward to hopefully establishing The Lower New Inn as one of the best places on South East Wales to dine.”

As well as offering a great selection of freshly prepared food, at the bar you’ll find all your favourite tipples and usual suspects, featuring a variety of guest ales weekly.

You can also enjoy a cup of freshly-ground coffee, and a varied selection of teas.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner six days a week and offers a traditional roast every Sunday from noon – booking essential.

The wonderful team at The Lower New Inn can also cater for weddings, birthdays, memorials, and any other special occasions as the spacious restaurant can easily accommodate up to 50 people, and with a large car park available, it’s the perfect venue to hold your event.

For more information about its celebratory packages, give their friendly team a call or pop into the restaurant.
