This old coaching inn has been tastefully redecorated, with the new landlords offering a fantastic gastro-style menu of traditional British classics with a fabulous selection of fine wines, real ales and spirits from the bar.

The menu has a strong focus on 28-day matured steaks,Welsh lamb and fresh produce from local suppliers, making it Voice’s Restaurant of the Month for May.

The new summer lunchtime menu of two courses for £9.95 is proving to be a huge hit with the locals, where you can choose from a wonderful selection of homemade starters or mains.

Options include chef’s homemade beef lasagne, seafood linguine,Welsh pork and leek sausages, and chargrilled chicken breast to name but a few.

This new menu has become so popular that it is preferred that you book a table for lunch to avoid waiting. Walk-ins are more than welcome, but there may be a wait for your table, so why not enjoy a drink while you wait?

At the bar you’ll find all your favourite tipples and usual suspects, featuring a variety of guest ales weekly. You can also enjoy a cup of freshly ground coffee, and a varied selection of teas.

During the warmer months, especially when the sun is shining brightly, you can get enjoy The Lower New Inn’s amazing food and drink in its secluded beer garden – a great sun trap at any time of day.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner six days a week and offers a traditional roast every Sunday from noon – booking essential.

This year for Father’s Day, the team at The Lower New Inn are offering a Gentlemen’s Afternoon Tea, which is savoury twist on the traditional afternoon tea by swapping finger sandwiches for mini beef burgers and scones and macaroons for chorizo Scotch eggs and Sirloin stuffed Yorkshire puddings.

Not just for the gents either, this special Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea offers a refreshing change to the usual sugar packed alternatives.
