Reseiclo is a social enterprise which collects unwanted wood from local businesses throughout south east Wales and re-uses as much of it as possible by turning the recycled wood into furniture, picture frames, home-wares and also wooden gifts, which can all be bought from its shop, The Wood Store, located at 8 Market Arcade.

Reseiclo is a not-for-profit company which was started by Trefor Puw in 2007, which is dedicated to the rescue of waste wood from being needlessly thrown away.

“We collect ‘waste’ timber from all over South Wales,” said Trefor
“We work with some of the biggest construction companies in the UK, like Taylor Wimpey and Redrow Homes, and also collect wooden packaging from the industrial and commercial sectors.
“The best stuff we collect is offered for sale at extremely low prices – typically half the price of your local DIY shop.

“With the rest of the reclaimed wood, we manufacture a wide range of items at our warehouse within the Harlequin Industrial Estate on Alderney Street, which can be bought from our shop in Newport city centre or online.”

As a social enterprise with strong community links, Reseiclo also provides employment, training and volunteering opportunities.

“We have a whole host of volunteers, who find working here gives them great satisfaction.” said Trefor.

“We also have a great team of guys with learning difficulties come and help us out, which is organised by Mike Cook, and we’re always looking for more help from people who are willing to give it.”

As well as stocking many hand-crafted gifts and furniture at the store, such as personalised gifts and garden furniture, which has been handmade from the wood they collect, they additionally offer a bespoke personal service and one off items can be made by request, specifically to the customer’s requirements.

The team can also make a wide variety of items for commercial properties too, such as tables and chairs for restaurants. The team already has numerous pieces featured in the popular cafe and deli, Parc Pantry, and Parc Pantry Tearooms, and also supplied all the wood which was used to create Slipping Jimmy’s in High Street, to name but a few.

So if you’re interested in volunteering or looking for great quality wood at a bargain price, give the guys at Resiclo a call on 07410 700203, or alternatively call the Alderney Street depot on 01633 856622.
