October is packed full of events at Blackwood Miners’ Institute and the must see show of the month is The 39 Steps.

Following successful tours and building on their reputation for producing accessible and high quality drama, Black RAT Productions present a comic spoof of John Buchan and Alfred Hitchcock’s tale of espionage THE 39 STEPS. They kick off their autumn tour at Blackwood Miners’ Institute from 6 – 8 October 7.30pm, before touring venues across Wales.

The tour is a Black RAT Productions, Blackwood Miners’ Institute and RCT Arts Service Co-Production, supported by the Arts Council of Wales.

The 39 Steps (Hitchcock’s famous first thriller) follows the incredible adventures of a dashing hero, Richard Hannay (Gareth John Bale), complete with stiff-upper-lip, British gung-ho complete with pencil moustache as he encounters dastardly murders, double-crossing secret agents, and of course, devastatingly beautiful women.

The hit West End production of The 39 Steps closed on 5th September 2015, following a nine-year run. Black RAT’s tour of Wales offers the chance to see an original version of the Olivier Award winning action-packed comic thriller.

There’s plenty more on offer this October. Frank Vickery makes a welcome return on 12 – 14 October with THREE OF THE BEST - three one act plays starring the man himself and there’s a brand-new adaptation of Bram Stoker's gothic pot-boiler DRACULA on 29 October.

Anthony Horowitz’s hilarious family film noir pastiche THE FALCON’S MALTESER is on 17 October, perfect for children ages 8 +, and there’s a family production of the Hans Christian Anderson classic THE UGLY DUCLING on 28 October.

There’s music from VOICE OF THE HEART – THE KAREN CARPENTER STORY on 22 October, one of the World’s most famous operas – MADAME BUTTERFLY on 27 October and arguably ‘The Greatest Rock & Roll Band In The World’ – SHOWADDYWADDY on 30 October.
