McCann’s Rock N’ Ale Bar is Voice’s Vibrant Venue of the Month and also Newport’s hottest new location to see live music.

Owner Amy McCann opened the doors on April 23 and has had a fantastic response since  Amy is no stranger when it comes to running a successful bar, as she ran the Horn Blower, at the bottom end of Newport city, on and off for 13 years. At her new venue, Amy can now offer so much more, as there is a courtyard out the back and also a function room downstairs.

“Food will be coming very soon, and we will be offering our customers a spectacular roast dinner every Sunday,” said Amy.
“During the summer we’ll also serving a whole host of delicious food in the form of barbeques in our courtyard on weekends, which is the perfect suntrap to enjoy a tasty burger or hotdog.

“With the courtyard and function room we can cater for all kinds of events and special occasions – we’ve already had lots of children’s parties here too, where we have our own candy floss machine and sweet cart. We will also be taking bookings for weddings, especially for those who love live music. Pop in for a chat, and we’ll try our best to cater for all your functions needs.

“I will be serving a selection of real ales, as we’re part of the Good Beer Guide. We’ve also just been awarded 10/10 for our Guinness by Diageo - how amazing is that?

“People who know me, will tell you my love for music is second to none, and if you think the Horn Blower was good for rocking-out, wait till you visit McCann’s Rock N’ Ale Bar – we’ve loads of great bands performing throughout the summer, and we have juke box with more than 50,000 plus metal and rocks songs on it.

“As well as offering great choice for music lovers and for people looking for a venue to hold an event, we also show all the latest sporting action from BT Sport, and will also be cheering on the Welsh team in the European soccer tournament during the summer, so come along and show your patriotic support!

“We look forward to welcoming you very soon!”
