This month’s Shop of the Month is the aptly named City Treasures - a wonderful shop which is full to bursting with collectables, antiquities and much sought after pieces of interest.

Formerly known as Times Past, located on Commercial Street in Newport’s city centre, City Treasures offers a wide range of amazing things to buy, including model trains, cars, figurines, gold and silver jewellery, plus a large collection of vintage glassware and ceramics as well as fine china and pottery.

New owner Claire McAtee is keeping the business within the family, even though there’s a new name on the shop front, there will still be the same great offers and fantastic customer service.

“People are always amazed by how much choice we have in store; you could spend a day going through every item!” she said.

“It’s always nice to see a new face that hasn’t been to the store before, whether they are looking to buy or sell an item, everyone is more than welcome at City Treasures, even if they just come in for a chat!”

City Treasures specialises in gold and silver jewellery and has an impressive range of rings, necklaces, bracelets, chains and earrings. Jewellery prices start from as little as £40. Why not pop in to browse the extensive selection.

Fans of planes, trains and cars can shop for hours by searching through the impressive collection of scaled miniatures, that include numerous items from popular brand-names such as Hornby, Bachmann, Matchbox, Dinky and Corgi to name but a few.

As it’s the centenary of the First World War, City Treasures is offering a unique range of military memorabilia, and is also looking for things from this period to buy too, so if you have unwanted items that are gathering dust in your home and you’re looking to make some quick cash, pop in and see Claire and her team at City Treasures.

Also, Claire is looking to buy vintage model vehicles and train sets. Why not take your collection in to be valued. Friendly and impartial advice is always on offer when it comes to buying and selling sought-after items.

Christmas is fast approaching and customers can take advantage of the store’s easy payment scheme, where you pay a 10% deposit to secure the your chosen item, then pay the rest of the balance in weekly installments. Ask Claire and her friendly staff for more information.
