Taurus Crafts is a thriving centre of creativity and is home to 13 artisan businesses, including a fabulous gift shop, full of original and local craft products, as well as a café that serves delicious food and hosts regular six-week art exhibitions.

It is run by a mixed ability team and provides work placements and supported employment for people with learning disabilities, with the aim of building the confidence, skills and independence of the people they support.

It has been open seven days a week since 1995, as part of a national charity, The Camphill Village Trust, and here you will find a wide range of distinctive gifts, drawing on an art and craft tradition, including products made in supported workshops within the charity.

Independent craft businesses on-site include chocolatiers, picture framing, jewellery, glass, artworks, knitting, leatherwork, ethical fashion, delicatessen, stonemason, antiques, and a health and beauty salon.

The café provides a delicious range of freshlyprepared meals and snacks, including barista coffee and fair trade teas, which can be accompanied by a tasty slice of cake, scone, tea cake and tray bake.

There’s also Krazy Golf next door, numerous craft activities for all ages, and an outside play area to keep the little ones entertained while you browse.

During the first three weekends in December the onsite makers and creative businesses will be joined by over 30 independent traders and many locally grown freshly-cut Christmas trees to create the area’s largest choice of gifts which are not available on the high street.

The markets are the highlight of the year at Taurus Crafts, and in many ways, it’s a showcase of creative talent in the region and a chance to meet many of the makers themselves.

Activities throughout market weekends include Paint Your Own Pot, with items starting from £6, as well as local choirs, bands and singing groups in attendance to get you in the mood for Christmas.

There’s additionally a special Christmas Shop on-site, open all week, which has an enchanted castle theme, and includes post a letter to Santa post box.

So come along and support the local talent and the visiting traders at its festive market. You are sure to find all you need to celebrate Christmas in style.

Voice’s Family Day Out of theMonth is open daily from 10am until 5pm with free entry and free parking, and is located on the A48, just 10 minutes from Chepstow. Pop along this December and treat the family to a craft-inspired wonderland.
