This year’s Maindee Festival is Incredible Edible Maindee and we have a whole programme of green activities lined up as well as our free community arts event on Saturday, July 7.

Join our open art event at Maindee Triangle on Chepstow Road on Bank Holiday Monday, May 28 and be creative in whatever way you fancy. Draw, paint and make wildflowers or be artistic with fruit and vegetables.

On Wednesday, May 30 come and make some banners and bunting.

Bee Friendly on Thursday, May 31 and create a pollinator patch in Maindee car park.

Make a willow sculpture in Woodland Park on Friday, June 1 and join us on Saturday, June 2 for poetry and photography workshops at Community House, Eton Road.

Throughout June help us to make flowers for the willow sculpture so it looks fantastic on festival day (contact us for how to do this).

Festival day will feature our stunning parade leaving at midday from Rodney Parade arriving at Maindee Primary School at 1pm. From then on expect a lively afternoon on our three stages.

Operasonic will be performing an exciting new mini opera, composed by
young people from Newport. The Main Stage hosts a variety of local and outside talent, while our Garden Stage offers a more chilled acoustic space.

Look out for Michal Poreba and Gerada Albela who bring a fusion of Polish and Galician folk music to Maindee, as well as Ces Y Cocoa for a little bit of Cuban Rumba, Sax for Fun also make an appearance, along with singer Ellis Devlin, and see what the newly formed Maindee Makerspace and Men’s Shed group are up to.

Finding Maindee will showcase some of Newport’s artistic talent and there will be activities for children and adults including art and craft fun, seed planting, and making stuff.

To trade, perform, or help out please contact us as soon as possible.
