Santa’s grotto at Kingsway Shopping Centre is hoping to smash last years’ target of raising £8k of funds for Hospice of the Valleys.

If you didn’t already know, Hospice of the Valleys provides comfort, care and support to patients and their families who have been diagnosed with a life limiting illness, but as with most things in this world, that care comes at a cost.

The hospice provides a holistic approach to patient care and enables people to live as well as they can with their diagnosis.

Last year the charity supported 635 patients within Blaenau Gwent, and to provide this service free of charge it cost the hospice £1.5 million pounds a
year.

But there’s a great way you can show your support, and that’s by taking the family to visit Santa at his grotto within the Kingsway Shopping Centre, which officially opened on Saturday, November 17, the same day as Newport’s Christmas Lights Switch On.

It costs £3 per child to pay Santa a visit, which includes a gift. You may also choose to have your photo taken for an extra charge of £2, where you
will receive an instant printout for you to keep.

You don’t have to visit Santa at his grotto to show support, as they are many festive gifts available to purchase, as well as being able to write a special message on a bauble to hang on one of the Christmas trees within the grotto for a £1.

Anyone can pay Santa a visit, being located centrally within the Kingsway Shopping centre it’s easy to find, and there’s plenty of wheelchair access.
Opening times through December are Monday, Tuesday,Wednesday, Friday and Saturday are 10am until 5pm, Thursday from 11am until 6pm, and
Sunday 11am until 3pm.

On Christmas Eve, the grotto will be open from 11am until 2pm for those last-minute Christmas wishes!

Hopefully you’ll show your support this festive season and smash last year’s target of £8k for this very worthy cause.
