Crosskeys Armed Forces ‘A Day to Remember’ is back again for its second year and will be held in the same location of Waunfawr Park, Crosskeys.

Last years’ one day event saw more than 7,000 people in attendance, and due to this amazing success, the organisers decided to go bigger and better and run it over the two days, which falls on the weekend of June 22 and 23, with the gates open from 9am until 5pm.

A Day to Remember is hosted by the Royal British Legion Band of Wales in support of Armed Forces Day and the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. The two-day event is based around the Community and Military from World War 1 to Modern Day, which attracts exhibitors from all over the Country.

The aim is to raise funds for the Royal British Legion Band of Wales by voluntary donations from exhibitors and visitors.

There’s more than 100 trade exhibitors bringing you all sorts of trade goods from paintings and local craftwork to artisan food and drink, as well as a funfair, plus plenty of fun and games for all ages from zorbing and laser quest to inflatable slides – there is something for everyone.

Combine this with vintage and modern military re-enactors and military machinery you will be sure to have a great family day out.

Live music will be performed every hour on the hour by a wide variety of bands, musicians and choirs across both days.

The event is free to enter, but as this is a not-for-profit event, any donations, big or small, to the numerous collection buckets are most welcome.

From 6pm until 11pm on Saturday June 23, spend a night down memory lane with Katy La Mare and Ricky Hunter with a special evening of dancing dedicated to swing of the 1940’s. Tickets to this spectacular evening of song and dance are priced at £12.50 each and available to purchase from the website. Dress-up optional.

This weekend is a fantastic way to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.

Showing support for the Armed Forces provides a much-valued morale boost for the troops and their families. You can find out more about what they are doing at home and around the world by visiting the official sites of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force.
