Steeped in heritage, Vin Sullivan started more than 50 years ago as the Fishmonger on the High Street in Abergavenny.

Over the years, the business developed from not only serving the local residents of Abergavenny with the freshest of fish, but also to supplying some of the finest hotels and restaurants across the country.

Vin Sullivan has won many awards including National Fishmonger of the year and more recently the winner of the “Best Seafood Supplier” in the Wales Food Awards 2016 and Finalist in 2017.

Vin Sullivan is now proud to present Fish Shack, which is a one-day-only stall posted at various markets throughout SouthWales. Locations include Newport, Abergavenny, Pontypool and Pontypridd.

“Bringing fish back to the high street is a result of feedback from consumers who have been dissatisfied with the fish offering and prices at the big chain supermarkets,” says manager Tom Rudge.

“The ‘Fish Shack’ will bring fresh fish sourced daily from the coasts and will boast the ‘widest’ selection of fish in town, which can be prepared
to your requirements by our expert Fishmonger.

“Our aim is to bring fresh fish to as many residents in the region as possible. Currently we trade in Abergavenny, Pontypool, Pontypridd and Newport market days, as well as having a shop located in Blaenavon open five days a week.

“Jonny Jenkins, the Fish Shack’s Fishmonger, has more than 25 years’ experience in the industry, with two British Fish Craft Championship and many other trade accolades.

“At our stall, we stock up to 30 types of fresh fish and shellfish on the counter to customers, running daily promotions for them to take advantage off.

“We value customers business and offer a loyalty scheme to repeat  customers, collecting Fish Shack stamps on their loyalty card. On the 10th visit we offer customers a free fillet portion of fish for them to enjoy or £3 discount of their next order.

“We’re now located at the same location as the previous fishmonger within Newport’s Indoor Market. The stall is open from 8am and stays open until the fish sells out, which is usually around 3pm.

“People can browse our store and buy fresh fish on the day or pre-order the day before via email or telephone, so their fish is reserved and ready to collect on the day.

“Since we’ve opened in Newport the demand has been very high, so we advise pre-booking your order to secure your desired fresh fish.”
