Owner Beatrix Hughes fully took over the business last September and was one of the original partners who opened the business in June of 2013.

Being a vegetarian herself, Beatrix knows how difficult it is to get great tasting chips from a chip shop, which is why from day one of Pie Corner being open, she made sure to use two separate fryers to accommodate all dietary requirements.

A lot of the items on the menu are gluten free, and are also suitable for vegans and vegetarians, offering a choice of meat alternatives such as fish fingers, burgers, sausages, nuggets, as well as a choice of sauces and curries.

If you have any dietary requirements, please ring in advance to make your order as a 20-30-minute waiting time applies.

Potatoes come from UK suppliers, where the very best are chosen by Beatrix and her team to be freshly prepared to go into the fryers. When Voice visited they were using Markies from a Lincolnshire farm.

Beatrix told Voice “Our sustainable Icelandic cod is delivered fresh daily from a reputable supplier in Cardiff.

“We always cook our fish to fresh to order using our unique batter recipe. This way we can assure our customers that our food is incredibly fresh.

“People regularly comment on how chunky our fish flakes are, which is also skinless and boneless too – a popular option for our senior citizens who take advantage of our cod and chips meal deal at any time of the day for £5.”

“We additionally have great meal deals on offers available too, such as our lunchtime special where you can get 1x chips with curry or gravy, 1x small sausage or fish cake, and 1x canned drink for only £4.”

The menu is what you would expect to find at a traditional fish and chip shop, including such favourites as fish cakes, sausages in batter, chicken breasts and Ginny’s pies, all of which are very reasonably priced.

To keep the children happy, they offer a boxed kid’s meal with a toy for £3.50.With such delights as sausage, chicken nuggets, or fish cake with chips and a drink – you’re guaranteed a scrumptious meal to put a smile on your child’s face with the added bonus of a toy to play with.
