The New Theatre amused and delighted audiences last year with the tremendously successful Cinderella. It follows that up this year with Aladdin from Saturday, December 12, 2015 to Sunday, January 17, 2016.

Not only has the New Theatre brought back last year’s record-breaking headline cast, it has gone one better.

Making his very first Cardiff panto appearance is Ian ‘H’ Watkins, from Steps. The pop sensation, who plays Aladdin, has been carving out a career in musical theatre with West End appearances in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, Fame and a tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Assisting Aladdin will be the Slave of the Ring, played by the successful actor and model Linda Lusardi. Also returning will be comedians and panto veterans Mike Doyle (as Widow Twankey) and Andy Jones (as Wishee Washee).

Another musical theatre stalwart, Sam Kane, is not only playing ultimate pantomime baddie Abanazar, but he directs the production too.

Welsh rugby legend Gareth Thomas makes his second panto appearance as the Genie of the Lamp, making the wishes of Aladdin and his Princess come true. The Princess is played by Holly Bluett, who captured Cardiff’s heart last year as Cinderella.

The pantomime is packed with spectacular special effects, stunning costumes, beautiful scenery and an Aladdin’s cave of fun for the entire family.
